Spring love: How to Treat your hair better this season

Spring love: How to Treat your hair better this season

Spring is almost here and if you’re ready to slay the season, we’re right there with you. Before you break out your favorite crop top and sandal combo though, you’ll want to be sure that your curls can make a statement of their own and we know just how you can do that.

Here are seven ways that you can treat your hair better this spring season.

Use the right products.

Although you won’t have to change your entire product usage every season, you’ll most likely need to change one or two. For example, if you used heavier products on your hair in the winter, try to find lighter oils, butters, or creams for the spring, instead. A great lightweight oil to consider is our Soft All Over Multi-Purpose Oil.

Remember that your styles may not last as long.

Since the weather is warming up, one thing to keep in mind when styling your mane is that it may not last as long as it would during the cooler months. From twist outs to your wash and go, hot and humid weather means shorter wear time for your styles.

If you haven’t already, add a pre-poo.

Co-washing probably became a staple in your routine during the winter months, but now that it’s warming up, adding a pre-poo can help your hair out. A good pre-poo can help detangle your hair, add moisture, add shine, and improve the health of your hair. Our Balance Grapeseed & Avocado Oil is an optimal choice for a pre-poo.

Get your trims.

No matter the season, going in for your regular trim should be apart of your routine. So as we roll into the new weather, be sure to go in for yours. And, if you’re feel like changing your style a bit, try a new cut.

Add in hot oil treatments.

Winter months can be harsh on your hair, so starting the season off with a hot oil treatment can do wonders for your tresses. Not only can it repair your hair in the ways you need, it can also add shine, invigorate growth, and help increase blood circulation. Try using a quarter sized amount of Aunt Jackie’s Repair My Hair Argan oil and then covering with a cap for 10 to 15 minutes for the best results.

Avoid heat.

Though it’s suggested that those in the natural hair tribe use as little heat as possible to avoid damaging our hair, being able to wear our hair straight at times can be a guilty pleasure. Going into the new season, however, you’ll want to do your best to abide by that rule. With the weather’s heat and humidity already drying out your hair, adding extra heat will cause you to overdry and create ample damage.

Hydrate your hair from the inside out.

Moisturizing your hair is something that you need to do all four seasons, but during the warmer months, it’s easier for your hair to become dehydrated faster. Likewise, it’s easier for you to become dehydrated, too. Drinking more water won’t just keep you healthy and balanced or improve the look of your skin, it can also keep your hair in good health as well. So, be sure to hydrate your body and hydrate your hair this spring season.
